Maligaon, DECEMBER 17 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has inaugurated upgraded Retiring Rooms and Dormitory facilities at Guwahati Railway Station under the Lumding Division, aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and station amenities.
The revamped complex, located on the station building’s first floor, features nine retiring rooms, seven two-bedded and two five-bedded rooms, alongside a 12-bedded dormitory. All rooms have been converted into fully air-conditioned units with improved interiors and comfortable beds, offering a modern and hygienic environment for travelers.
The upgraded facilities were inaugurated in the presence of NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava and other senior officials, reflecting NFR’s commitment to passenger-centric infrastructure development.
Under a new outsourcing model, the maintenance, renovation, and management of the facilities have been entrusted to a service provider for a five-year contract, with all renovation costs borne by the contractor. This arrangement is expected to generate Rs 1.94 crore in revenue over the contract period, marking a significant increase compared to the previous in-house management system, which involved recurring expenses.
