Verification of Work Charge Employees under PWD

Dimapur, December 14 (MExN):As per the Government order, the spot and physical verification of all work charge employees under Changtongya sub-division was held from December 10 to 12 2011. A team of 6 office bearers led by President All Nagaland PWD Field Workers Association PWD R&B and Housing headquarter Kohima, Inakhu Aye conducted the verification. The verification was done in the presence of PWD R&B, EE N. Temjen, and SDO, Süsütemjen Longkumer. All work charge employees were present at the verification and were found correct and genuine. The visiting team also thanks all department officials and work charge employees for their cooperation.  The union also mourned the sudden demise of General Secretary ANPWDFWA of Peren district Martha on 10th December 2011. Describing her as a sincere officer, the team termed it a great loss for the union and further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prays to the Almighty God for the departed soul to rest in peace.

Dr. Ambedkar Foundation to organize essay competition

Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, an autonomous body of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, invites Essay entries for 'Dr. Ambedkar Foundation National Essay Competition 2011' from students of recognised schools and colleges/Universities/Institutions in the following categories: A Category: Recognised schools (Secondary & Senior Secondary Schools i.e. from Class 9 to Class 12) on the topic - Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar: A multifaceted personality (2000 words). Rs. 25000/-, 15,000/- and Rs. 10000/- will be awarded to the first, second and third position respectively in English and Hindi.  B Category: (Recognised Colleges/Universities/Institutions on the topic Constitution of India and Social Justice (3500 words). First prize of Rs. 100000/-, second prize Rs. 50000/- and third prize Rs. 25000/- will be awarded to the winner in English and Hindi.

Seven tourists killed in Sikkim

Gangtok, December 14 (PTI):
Seven tourists from West Bengal were killed after their vehicle fell into a deep gorge at 4th Mile, Namok Khola in Sikkim, police said on Wednesday. The vehicle met with the accident last night when it was moving towards Siliguri from Lachung village in North Sikkim. All the seven bodies were recovered. Four others including the driver were rescued and admitted to Mangan district hospital, they said.

4,835 Mizoram teachers yet to get salary

Aizawl, December 14 (PTI):
Mizoram education minister Lalsawta today told the state assembly that 4,835 teachers from 541 schools, drawing salaries from the state Plan did not receive salaries. Replying to a query from C. Ramhluna of the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF), Lalsawta said that the teachers could not draw their salaries as adequate allocation for salaries was not allotted in the plan allocation. Additional fund required for payment of salaries to the teachers was Rs 63. 11 crore during the current fiscal, he said, adding that the state finance and planning departments were making all out efforts to ensure that the teachers and other department employees who have not received salaries get it before Christmas.

Mizoram Assembly adjourned sine die

Aizawl, December 14 (PTI):
Two-day Winter Session of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly was on Wednesday adjourned sine die by Speaker R Romawia. Two government bills and two amendment bills were passed during the session while one official resolution was adopted by the House. Seven starred questions were given oral answers inside the house and written answers were given to 23 questions.

Poachers kill rhino in Kaziranga

Jorhat, December 14 (PTI):
A one-horned rhino was killed and its horn taken away by poachers in Kaziranga National Park in upper Assam. During routine patrolling in the 430 sq km park in Golaghat district, KNP forest guards recovered the carcass of the rhino with its horn chopped off last night, Park authorities said today. The rhino was shot dead by poachers at Bisbali Sapori in the Northern Range of the National Park about four days ago, they said. A search operation had been launched to track out the poachers.
