NFR enhance freight operations and customer interface

Maligaon, December 16 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has implemented a series of customer-centric and business development initiatives in November 2025, focusing on enhancing logistics and boosting freight revenue to support regional economic growth.

As part of these measures, Rangapani station under the Katihar Division has been operationalised for outward and inward Indented Parcel Train traffic and Parcel Cargo Express Train services from November 4, 2025, until further notice, stated a press release issued by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR. 

In another move, Langting station under the Lumding Division has been opened for handling outward bamboo traffic from November 21, 2025, aimed at improving market access for local industries.

Under its Business Development Unit (BDU) initiative, the NFR registered significant freight movement in November 2025.

According to an official statement, the Lumding Division booked 2,035 wagons of stone chips from locations including Molvom in Nagaland, and Panchgram and Bihara in Assam. The shipments were destined for various sites such as Jirania in Tripura, Sairang in Mizoram, and New Tinsukia in Assam, generating freight revenue of approximately Rs 8.15 crore.

Additionally, the division booked 1,136 wagons of cement during the month, moved from loading points like Tetelia, Lanka, and Salchapra to destinations including Khongsang in Manipur, Sairang in Mizoram, and New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. This traffic contributed about Rs 4.77 crore in freight revenue.

The BDU initiative also saw 1,086 wagons of POL (Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants) traffic booked under the Lumding Division, adding approximately Rs 4.41 crore to the freight revenue in November.

The Northeast Frontier Railway stated it remains committed to strengthening freight services and customer interface through targeted, business-friendly measures. These efforts are part of its ongoing commitment to providing efficient and competitive freight transportation, thereby bolstering the regional logistics and supply chain ecosystem.
