Maligaon, August 25 (MExN): A multi-colour booklet on the initiatives taken by the Northeast Frontier railway (NFR) to improve safety standards was released by NFR General Manager Sanjive Roy on Tuesday.
Additional General Manager Radhey Raman along with other senior officials was also present on the occasion, NFR spokesperson Subhanan Chanda informed in a press release.
The release stated that the NFR maintains the supply line for all the eight northeastern states besides parts of Bihar and West Bengal. It said that the railway network of NFR passes through the ‘chicken neck’ portion in the plains of Dooars which act as the umbilical cord of the seven states of northeast.
As such, it said that uninterrupted movement of trains and safety remains the topmost priority of the railways to prevent shortage of essentials and strategic impediments.
The book, it said, shows the activities done by NFR to convert the unprecedented lockdown period into an opportunity to speed up maintenance works of all departments since regular passenger trains have stopped plying. All the works were done with detailed planning and continuous monitoring by maintaining all COVID-19 related protocols, it said.
The compilation of the data related to enhancing the safety standard in this railway and designing and printing of the book was done by the Public Relations department of NFR during the lockdown period, it said.
