NFR’s RPF rescues eight minors, four adults in coordinated operations

Maligaon, February 1 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Saturday said its Railway Protection Force (RPF) carried out a series of coordinated rescue operations across its network, ensuring passenger safety and humanitarian assistance.

Between January 24 and January 28, RPF teams rescued 12 vulnerable persons, including eight minors and four adults, from stations and trains under NFR jurisdiction. The rescued individuals included runaway minor boys and girls, destitute children and unattended passengers detected through regular station surveillance and complaints received via RailMadad.

Major rescue operations were conducted at Falakata, Lumding, Kishanganj, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, Kamakhya, Katihar (East) and Guwahati railway stations.

All rescued minors were handed over to the concerned Child Line units and recognised child care organisations, while the rescued adults were produced before local police authorities for further necessary action, the NFR said.

The railway authorities said the prompt interventions reflected the alertness, compassion and strong field-level coordination of RPF personnel in safeguarding vulnerable passengers, particularly children. NFR reiterated its commitment to safe, secure and people-centric railway operations and appealed to passengers to report unattended minors or suspicious situations immediately to RPF staff or through RailMadad for swift assistance.
