
Dimapur | April 14 : A leading group of models and stylists will be opening up an academy in Nagaland called ‘The North East India Academy of performing Arts’ in association with the Government of Nagaland.
The academy is officially launching its first show on April 15 with the theme ‘Renaissance’ which indicates the rebirth of our tradition and culture bringing a revolution to our so called Naga fashion world. International models from Paris, New York, Ukraine, Russia along with former winners of beauty pageants like Miss India Tourism International, Miss FTV India, Sony My Miss India and Face of L’Oreal Paris (America) will walk the ramp. Top Indian choreographer, Ajay Bisht will be choreographing the show.
The Academy’s official website and other web sources will be announced that night. The inaugural show will be graced by Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio as the chief guest. The event will also be attended by other ministers and bureaucrats of Nagaland.
Speaking to The Morung Express, Tsewang Diki, administrator of NIAPA said that the ‘Reflorescence’ society successfully established the Northeast India Academy of Performing Arts (situated near Agri Expo site) this year with the motive to capitalize on the rich and diverse culture of the Northeast and create opportunities and empower the youth.
Further she said that the NIAPA was started with the main purpose of training and nurturing talent among the youth in the northeast and getting them ready for the global entertainment industry.
Stressing that the focus of the academy lies in creating better work opportunities and equipping the students with necessary skills and knowledge through various expert courses like fashion styling, hair styling, make up art, modeling and beauty. The academy dreams to provide outstanding education to its students and empower them to stay ahead of their clients expectations and grow in accordance with the needs and demands of the industry.
The academy also endeavors to provide 100% job assurance to its students. Branch offices of the NIAPA which are located in Delhi and New York will work along with business partners to the mange employment of the students. The NIAPA is expected to start the academic session from the July 1, 2011.
The opening show not only carries the motive of launching one of the biggest academy of fashion and entertainment in Nagaland but also to give the state an international taste of a real and exclusive fashion show. It promises to be the biggest and most exclusive fashion show that Nagaland has ever witnessed.
