DIMAPUR, MAY 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) Executive Committee visited Phek on May 1, led by its President Dr Puse Liegise along with members Dr Vikeyie, Dr Kezhalezo Angami and Registrar Dr Kevilhulie Meyase.

During the visit, the team, accompanied by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Phek Dr K Chitale Hiese, called on Deputy Commissioner Phek Rhosietho Ngouri in his official chamber.

The Council also held a meeting with the doctors’ fraternity at the CMO conference hall. Interacting with the doctors, Dr Liegise said that the purpose of the visit was to familiarise them with the functions of the Council.

The team stressed that registration of all allopathic doctors and timely renewal every five years is mandatory under the law. It also highlighted the importance of maintaining ethical practices and complying with provisions of the Nagaland Health Care Establishment Act, 197.

The NMC further stated that in cases where doctors from outside the state conduct medical camps, organisers must obtain prior approval from the District Health Authority.

The team also visited the District Hospital, where it appreciated the facilities available. However, it pointed out the need for rational placement of specialist doctors in the district to ensure effective healthcare delivery.
