The Nagaland Masters Table Tennis Association (NMTTA) under the aegis of Nagaland Table Tennis Association (NTTA) is all set to host 3rd North East Masters Table Tennis championship, 2024 in Kohima from November 28 to 30.
NMTTA, which is a newly formed sport association, is a confluence of table tennis players who have crossed 40 years of age.
It has members from across the state of Nagaland, and is under the auspices of NTTA (Masters” referred to as veterans, old timers, or commonly as seniors).
The journey of table tennis sport since its inception during the early 80s till date has not had an equable journey the past five decades than in having its fair share of obstacles and hindrances like any other sport in the state.
But the tenacity of the senior players to endure the challenges has been making the sport even stronger and determined, thereby, blossoming to the State’s sports in its own right as another independent sports entity.
Beyond the more or less criticalities that had been encountered which are inevitable in any organisation, the veteran players despite the shortcomings, inabilities and financial insecurities over the years has seen its senior players promoting the sport and also participating at the international levels on events which are from above 40 years of age.
The 3rd North East Masters Table Tennis championship will have events covering the categories of 40+, 50+, and 60+ players from both Men’s and Women’s with the events of Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Team Events from all categories.
The 3rd North East Masters championship will have over a hundred competitors from all the states from North-East India except Sikkim.
The main objective of organising this championship is to promote the sport of table tennis in the State’s sports, promote the youngsters, foster unity & better ties among the northeast states through sports and whereby will bring motivation to the youngsters in their promotional activities.
