DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 16 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) has stated that it has “nothing to do with the Framework Agreement of 2015 and the Agreed Position of 2017 signed by the NSCN (IM) and the NNPGs WC respectively with the Government of India.”
A press release issued by the Central Executive Council of the NNC on the contrary asked the two aforesaid entities “not to mislead the Nagas and jeopardise the Naga position, and desist from nonsense engagements with the Government of India henceforth.”
The NNC said that it would “steadfastly continue to uphold and defend the Naga national rights as declared and established under its initiatives based on unquestionable historical foundations of the Nagas.” These “historical foundations,” the NNC said, include the formal declaration of Naga Independence on August 14, 1947; Naga self-determination of the Naga Plebiscite on May 16, 1951; and formation of the Federal Republic of Nagaland on March 22, 1956.
It further affirmed to safeguard the territorial integrity of Nagaland as defined in Article–1 of the Yehzabo of Nagaland, which states “The territory of Nagaland shall comprise all the territories of the Nagas and such other territories as the Tatar Hoho may by law admit on such terms and conditions as it may deem fit.”
