Noklak, February 7 (MExN): Shamatore Battalion of the Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted in controlling a major fire which broke out at High School sector of Noklak Town on February 6.
According to a press release from the AR, troops from Noklak Post on receiving information of the fire immediately sprung into action. Along with local citizens and Noklak police, the troops helped in preventing the raging fire from spreading into built up area.
Large quantity of fire fighting equipment from the Post was utilised in dousing the fire, the release informed. Due to timely action, no injury or loss of life and property took place despite strong winds accelerating the fire, it added.
