North East Dr T Ao Trophy begins today

The Nagaland team for the North East Dr T Ao Trophy 2020 which kicks off from at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima at 9 AM onwards on January 20. Er. Zale Neikha appeals all the players to play in the true spirit of the game

Nagaland’s youth resources & sports advisor Er.Zale Neikha today said that North-east has potential of becoming a hotspot for young budding sportspersons to excel and become professionals.


He said that northeast region is a hub of talented sportspersons. In recent times, the region has been able to produce many excellent sportspersons in varied disciplines who have participated at International levels and brought laurels to the country.


He welcomed all the teams from the entire Northeast to the North East Dr. T. Ao Trophy starting from January 20.


The North East Dr. T. Ao Trophy 2020 in commemoration of the 100" Birth Anniversary of Dr. T. Ao will be held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.


The inaugural function has been scheduled at 9:00 AM.


Er. Neikha said that the PDA government under the able- leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio, understanding the need for a standard stadium in the state, took keen interest in the development of the stadium.


Meanwhile, he appealed all the players to play in the true spirit of the game, showcasing their talents to the best of their ability.


“And it is my hope that this beautiful game of football will be a platform for spreading the message of love and peace and co-existing as a family,” he said.


He also appealed all Naga citizens to witness the grand sporting event, which will continue till January 28.
