The Naga Peoples M ovement for Human Rights (NPMHR) has reminded the Government of India to revisit its commitment to Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by repealing and revoking all laws and policies that impinges human rights and its values.

It stated that the Naga people continue to have their basic rights to self determination denied. "Tyrannical laws such as the Armed Forces Special Powers' Act (AFSPA) of 1958 continue to be enforced in Naga areas. India's unilateral scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR), a policy that has historical fact and relevance to the rights to livelihood of Nagas living along the imposed international borders of India and Myanmar, is indicative of the real- life impact of laws and policies that do not reflect the democratic aspirations of the people", the NPMHR pointed out.  The imposition of Protected/Restricted Area Permit (PAP) has also compounded the difficulties, it added.
