NRFC, Nitsu Yan FC storm into LFC 2026 Final

The 15th edition of the Lotha Football Championship (LFC) 2026 produced thrilling semifinal encounters on Friday at the Public Ground, Wokha, setting up a much-anticipated final clash between NRFC and Nitsu Yan FC.

In the first semifinal, NRFC edged past Tsumang FC 2–1 in an electrifying contest played in front of a packed stadium. The home side enjoyed strong backing not only from their supporters but also from neighbouring Sumi fans, who turned out in large numbers. NRFC got off to a dream start as Nyanthung struck in the very first minute. The lead was doubled late in the game when Zuthungo found the net in the 78th minute. Tsumang FC responded swiftly with a goal by Chumlanthung a minute later, but NRFC held firm to secure their place in the final.

The second semifinal saw Nitsu Yan FC put up a dominant display to register a convincing 4–0 victory over Yon Sporting Club. Taking control from the outset, Nitsu Yan FC went two goals up in the first half before adding two more after the break. Zaremo opened the scoring in the 17th minute, while Ayenmongba netted a brace in the 41st and 68th minutes. Yiben Ezung rounded off the emphatic win with a goal in the 78th minute.

The first semifinal was graced by Vungathung Murry, President of WDCC&I, while Nzano Kikon, Deputy Chairperson, attended the second match as match patron. The final, scheduled for February 7 at 10 am, will be graced by Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, NCS (Retd.), MLA, Government of Nagaland, as the special guest, with K. Neibou Sekhose, AIFF Executive Committee Member and President of the Nagaland Football Association, as the special invitee at the closing ceremony.
