Dimapur, November 2 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today informed of an alleged case of impersonation and identity theft involving a person claiming to be associated with its Finance Department, and cautioned against such actions.
According to a statement issued by the Chaplee Ministry of NSCN (IM), the individual is reported to have impersonated the Finance Secretary and has allegedly been “threatening businessmen in Dimapur and Chümoukedima towns.”
The suspect allegedly contacted victims through the “contact number 9362620241 (registered in the name of Benrang Rengma) and, using this number, demanded ransom money from businessmen by providing them the G-Pay number 6901043247 (registered in the name of Shamim Uddin),” the NSCN (IM) claimed.
Some businessmen have reportedly complied with these demands, it added.
Accordingly, the statement emphasised that such acts of impersonation threaten the reputation of NSCN (IM) and defame the Finance Secretary, and directed the person involved to clarify his bona fide status within three days.
The NSCN (IM) Chaplee Ministry further reiterated its commitment to addressing the matter decisively.
