Meluri, September 17 (MExN): A district-level outreach programme of the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), under the Investments and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), was held on September 16 at DB’s Court, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Meluri. The programme was organised by NSEDM in collaboration with the District Administration.
ADC Meluri, Shelly Katiry in his introductory remarks, highlighted the various skill development activities and opportunities available under NSEDM, emphasising the importance of equipping local youth and aspiring entrepreneurs with relevant skills for employment and self-employment, stated a DIPR report.
Meripeni Ngullie, Under Secretary & Project Lead, NSEDM, IDAN, highlighted that despite Nagaland having a high literacy rate, youth unemployment remains a major concern. She stressed the need for greater emphasis on skill development and stated that the government is working towards identifying emerging fields that can provide employment opportunities for educated youth, including drone technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other emerging skills. She further informed that after completion of the training, NSEDM will track the trainees through their certificates and monitor their progress across various skill-development activities.
The NSEDM team also presented a PowerPoint presentation showcasing various youth skill-development activities and initiatives being undertaken across the state, highlighting the diverse skill-development opportunities available to young people.
The programme aimed to create awareness about local skill gaps, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, while identifying potential areas for collaboration and support under NSEDM. It also provided a platform for interaction with various stakeholders to understand grassroots-level needs and explore opportunities for skill development, employment generation and entrepreneurship promotion in the district.
