The Nagaland government has approved the Naga Students’ Federation’s (NSF) ‘Powered 60’ initiative to provide free, year-long coaching and mentorship to 60 civil service aspirants, NSF President Mteisuding Heraang announced during his solidarity message at the inaugural session of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) Collegiate Meet 2026 on October 21.

Heraang said the initiative, first announced in June, was proposed to the state government in December last year and officially approved in September.

It will provide intensive coaching to 60 candidates, one from each Assembly constituency in Nagaland, with a focus on aspirants from economically underprivileged backgrounds.

Expressing concern over Nagaland’s performance in the civil services examinations in recent years, despite government assistance to UPSC aspirants, he urged candidates to prepare for the selection process, which is expected to take place soon.

Minister for Higher Education and Tourism Temjen Imna Along congratulated the NSF on the initiative, saying Nagas should aspire to enter the civil services annually and take up prominent roles in policymaking and public life across India.

Along urged Nagas to prioritise collective development over tribalism, aspiring to produce leading civil servants, doctors and academics who could contribute across India and beyond. Acknowledging differences in approach with the NSF, he said their aspirations for the Naga people remained shared.
