Officials and alumni during the DDU-GKY alumni meet organized by NSRLM in Bengaluru.
Kohima, September 20 (MExN): The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) organised a DDU-GKY Alumni Meet in Bengaluru on September 18, bringing together alumni, employers, officials and other stakeholders to highlight the career journeys of youth who benefited from the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY).
Joint Secretary, Rural Development and Mission Director, NSRLM, Moa Sangtam, addressed the gathering as the special guest and highlighted the importance of skill development, perseverance and continued learning in building sustainable careers.
He encouraged the alumni to make use of the opportunities provided through DDU-GKY and serve as "brand ambassadors of Nagaland and role models for rural youth back home," according to a press release issued by NSRLM.
The programme featured “Journey Thus Far” sessions by alumni Isigwangle and Mercy Konyak, who shared their experiences, challenges and career progression after completing DDU-GKY training. Their accounts highlighted the role of skill development, confidence and determination in accessing employment and livelihood opportunities.
Learning & Development Manager of The Den, Bengaluru, a unit of Dan Hospitality India Pvt. Ltd, Dean Cooper, shared the employer’s perspective and stressed the importance of skills, professionalism, discipline and workplace readiness among young employees.
COO (Skills), Karnataka SRLM, Dr Sneha C.V., encouraged the alumni to continue upgrading their skills, remain adaptable and explore wider career opportunities.
The meet also provided a platform for alumni to reconnect, share experiences and encourage other rural youth to pursue skill development and sustainable livelihoods.
The programme was chaired by State Programme Manager (Mobilisation, Job Fair and Counselling), DDU-GKY, NSRLM, Ebibeni Humtsoe. Pastor Nikato Yeptho of Naga Christian Fellowship Bengaluru pronounced the invocation, while Chief Operating Officer (Skills), NSRLM, Menuoneituo Chadi delivered the welcome address.
More than 100 participants, including working candidates, state officials, invitees and members of the Naga community in Bengaluru, attended the programme.
