NUSU (L) conducts annual sports meet

Lumami, March 14 (MExN): The Nagaland University Students’ Union, Lumami (NUSU (L)) conducted its annual sports meet from March 11 to 13.
The event began with an opening ceremony at Dr T Ao Sports Complex.
Oath taking for all the four teams- Team Manchester United, Team Barcelona, Team Manchester City and Team Liverpool was led by K Ngamkang Salym, Games and sports Secretary, NUSU (L), followed by lighting of torch by Imlikokba T and Neikeseno Kere.
Professor Lanusashi Longkumer, Head of the Department of Geography, Nagaland University, Lumami, spoke on how a student’s life should not be confined only within the four walls of academics but should also learn team spirit through sports, a report from the NUSU (L) stated on Saturday.
The event officially began with the special guest kicking off the ball.
Basketball, Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Mararthon, Chess, 100 sprint race, Badminton, etc were some of the common games and sports which the students’ from the four teams competed against for the overall Champion during the three day sports meet. Tug of War for both men and women marked the end of the annual meet.
Team Manchester City was named the overall champion with 930 points, while Team Liverpool came a close second with 925 points and Team Manchester United came third with 885 points.
The annual sports meet concluded with a closing ceremony where prizes where distributed and vote of thanks was delivered by Süyievelü Venuh, General Secretary, NUSU (L).
