The 13th edition of Nagaland Veteran Football Association (NVFA) Inter- District Tournament 2026 commenced today under the theme “ Kick in Football, Kick out Ism” at Old Showuba Local Ground, Niuland district.
Gracing the inaugural ceremony as the special guest, MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu stated that a time has come for Naga veterans to play more important role to address social including political issues as well “because of the continued political and social unrest in state.”
Azo reminded the gathering that the veterans have a lot of role and responsibility to play in keeping the community at peace and harmony.
He lauded the pioneers of the veteran football tournament, keeping in mind that veterans should also continue taking part in games and sports activities in order to lead a healthy life” as health is wealth and at the end of the day nothing is more important than good health.”
In the inaugural match, defending champion Kohima District blanked Mon District 7-0.
