Organisations boycott PM, Sonia’s visit

Imphal, December 3 (NNN):  Imphal today witnessed a curfew-like situation as the bandh call given by the Co-ordination Committee of KCP, KYKL, PREPAK (pro), RPF, UNLF and UPPK to boycott the visit of Prime Minister Manmohon Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to Manipur evoked complete shut down in the state capital.
No vehicles moving in the city could be seen but some with Congress flags were in the streets carrying people to Kangla where a public meeting was held in connection with the visit.
Heavy security forces were deployed in and around the city in view of the visit and a 14-hour bandh called by the Coordination Committee of six militant groups and people were not allowed to enter near the places where the two Central leaders visited for inauguration of five newly constructed buildings.
People were stopped by the security forces in the west at Keishampat, in the south at Moirangkhom,in the north at North AOC and in the east at Konung Mamang of the city today. However, no untoward incidents were reported during the bandh.
