Peren, July 9 (MExN): The Department of Rural Development, through the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Peren, organised a district-level training on the People's Plan Campaign (PPC) for preparation of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for the 2026-27 financial year at the Women Hall in Jalukie on July 8.
Project Director, DRDA Peren, Rongsenmenla, in her keynote address, said the Gram Panchayat Development Plan forms the foundation for inclusive and sustainable rural development. She urged all line departments to actively participate in the planning process and work in close coordination with Gram Panchayats and frontline workers to prepare realistic, need-based and people-centric development plans.
The technical session was conducted by District Programme Manager, Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), Megoselhu Thou, who explained the objectives and framework of the People's Plan Campaign and the process of preparing the GPDP. He stressed the importance of community participation and highlighted the role of line departments in ensuring effective planning.
District Functional Specialist (Livelihoods), District Mission Management Unit (DMMU), Peren, under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), Dzuthovoyi Kapfo, delivered a session on the Village Poverty Reduction Plan (VPRP). She highlighted the role of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Village Level Organisations (VLOs) and cluster-level institutions in village planning, and emphasised the need for active community participation, technical support and sector-specific inputs from line departments to ensure development plans reflect local priorities.
Officials from 16 line departments attended the training.
Presentations on departmental programmes, policies and schemes were made by Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Jalukie, R Chorhotshu Nyusou from the Social Welfare Department, Assistant Fishery Inspector Neimulu Noswe from the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Department, and Sub-Divisional Officer Er Rulin T from the Water Resources Department, highlighting the importance of convergence and coordinated planning for holistic rural development.
The Rural Development Department appreciated the active participation of all line departments and reiterated that the success of the People's Plan Campaign depends on the collective efforts of stakeholders in preparing comprehensive, realistic and inclusive Gram Panchayat Development Plans.
