Peren: TAeM promoting tribal products from NE region

Peren, September 21 (MExN): Minister for PHED & Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi graced the inauguration programme of the second phase of Tribal Artisans Empanelment Mela (TAeM) held at Town Hall, Peren town on September 21.

According to a DIPR report, the TAeM was jointly organised by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED) & MARCOFED Ltd under the scheme ‘Marketing and logistics development for promoting tribal products from North Eastern Region (PTP NER).’

In his address, Minister Jacob Zhimomi said, “through platforms like TRIFED Ltd and MARCOFED Ltd, not only are our tribal products reaching every nook and corner of the country but our rich cultural heritage is also being promoted.” He therefore called upon the local artisans to make use of such opportunities.

“While the State government stands ready to offer assistance and help, the local artisans must also focus on quality products. In many ways, they are the brand ambassadors of our culture,” Jacob added.

Lt Col Sanyam Kashyap, GM (PT-NER), TRIFED Delhi in his short speech said the main purpose of TRIFED is to provide platform and strengthen the livelihood opportunities of tribal artisans of North Eastern Region. He also enlightened the gathering on the importance of empanelment and its benefits. 

Deputy Commissioner Peren, Vineet Kumar thanked the TRIFED & MARCOFED Ltd for providing opportunity for local artisans of Peren through the mela. 

The Minister was accompanied by Advisor H Sethrongkyu Sangtam, MLA Dr Sukhato A Sema and MLA Er Picto.
