Dimapur, November 19 (MExN): Giving an ultimatum to the State government, the All Nagaland Field Staff Association (ANFSA) of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has said that all ‘work-charge’ employees will go on an indefinite agitation if the government fails to address their plight.
Zhekugha Assumi, President ANFSA in a press release stated that the government had declared to give 50% seats to the work-charge employees (to be regularized) on the basis of seniority, while 50% would be filled by fresh appointments in case of any post vacancy within the department. The Association stated that the government had recommended the regularization of work-charge employees who have worked in the department for 15 years and above, and those on the verge of retirement be immediately regularized with pension and other benefits. Despite these assurances, ANFSA alleged that the government has been making fresh appointments and depriving the work-charge employees of their entitled opportunity.
ANFSA stated that the department had set up a screening committee to detect and screen out fictitious/bogus names of work-charge employees, and accordingly a physical verification exercise and screening test were carried out on several occasion and identity cards issued.
The Association stated that it is unfortunate the government does not recognise the contributions of the hard working work-charge employees.
