Planning, NPWD officials retire after decades of service

Kohima, July 1 (MExN):  The Planning & Transformation Department (P&TD) and the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD) bid farewell to four senior officers on June 30, recognising their decades of service and contributions to the State.

The P&TD honoured Additional Development Commissioner Vilhouhunuo Sachu and Joint Development Commissioner N Likao Kikon at a farewell programme held at Hotel Japfü, Kohima.

AS per the State DIPR, Sachu joined government service in June 1995 and served in various capacities before being promoted as Additional Development Commissioner in September 2025. Kikon entered government service in January 1994 as a Personal Assistant through the Nagaland Public Service Commission and rose to the post of Joint Development Commissioner in March 2026. Both retired on June 30 on attaining the age of 60.

Secretary of the Planning & Transformation Department (Administrative Branch), P Nungsangwapang Jamir, lauded the two officers for their professionalism, dedication and commitment, stating that their contributions had strengthened the department over the past three decades. 

Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang, who could not attend the programme, conveyed his appreciation through a message.

In his farewell address, Kikon thanked officers and staff for their support throughout his career and encouraged them to continue serving with sincerity and dedication.

Meanwhile, the NPWD organised a farewell programme at its Conference Hall in Kohima for Engineer-in-Chief Er K Imnajungba and Chief Engineer (NH) Er T Sao Sangtam.

Both officers expressed gratitude to their colleagues and urged younger engineers to continue serving with sincerity, commitment and integrity despite the challenges of public service. Reflecting on their careers, they encouraged officers to remain dedicated to improving public infrastructure and emphasised the importance of faith and perseverance.

Senior NPWD officials paid tribute to the retiring officers, describing them as capable leaders whose contributions had significantly benefited the department. The programme concluded with a presentation in honour of the two officers in recognition of their leadership and long years of service.
