DIMAPUR | OCTOBER 21 : Altogether 972 candidates sat for written examination vying for the posts of 14 ABSI (male) and 11 UBSI (8 for male and 3 for female). Out of the 972 candidates, 57 were female. The written examination for 7 posts of ASI (male) was held separately in the afternoon but the number of candidates who sat for the exam could not be obtained due to communication problem.
The written examination was held at NAPTC ground Chumukedima on Friday at 9:30 am one and half hour late from the original schedule owing to the nationwide Police Commemoration Day observed to honour slained personnel.
Even as the examination passed off peacefully, many candidates rued the way the examination was conducted as no proper desks or benches were provided. They had to sit on the gallery and write the exam. “The exam is so disorganized, arrangement should have been better,” one candidate said. Another candidate added, “it’s like an open market.”
However, police officials at the venue said they had initially arranged for the classrooms of the Police Central School but had to change the venue as the school could accommodate only few hundred candidates. He, however, said that the candidates were informed to bring writing boards for the exam.
