Students of Salt Brook School taking part in the 'Project Clean Surrounding' initiative.
DIMAPUR, MAY 3 (MExN): A programme under the ‘Project Clean Surrounding’ initiative was conducted at Salt Brook School, Chümoukedima on May 1, focusing on environmental awareness, cleanliness, and social responsibility.
The programme was organised by the school in collaboration with Project Clean Surrounding, Shillong.
As part of the activities, a cleaning drive was carried out where students and volunteers collected waste materials, particularly plastic, from the surrounding areas.
A tree plantation drive was also undertaken during the programme. Teachers and students planted saplings and were informed about the role of trees in maintaining ecological balance.
An awareness session on the dangers of plastic was conducted, where participants were informed about its impact on the environment and human health. The session encouraged the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives.
Project Clean Surrounding, founded by Jefferson Kynjing, is an initiative based in Shillong that focuses on promoting cleanliness, environmental awareness, and social responsibility. It conducts activities such as cleaning drives, plantation programmes, awareness campaigns, and support for vulnerable sections of society.
