Kohima | October 21 : Minister for school education and SCERT Nyeiwang Konyak today stated that proxy teachers should be discouraged in the state.
Speaking at the 10th general conference of the All Nagaland School Education Administrative Officers Association here today at Zonal Council Hall, the minister urged that teachers should realize that teaching is not an employment avenue, but that they have a great responsibility in moulding the future of the society.
Further, the minister informed that that teachers’ recruitment for maths, science and English will be made soon.
The minister announced that the school education department will now be headed by a Principal Director assisted by two directors.
He also informed that there are 804 administrative posts to be filled up, following the restructuring of the department and expressed hope that many teachers will get a lift in their service careers in this respect.
Saying that the restructuring and revamping was done as an incentive to promote quality and value education, he informed that the DEOs and SDOs will now be assisted by the recently promoted Junior Education Officers and further insisted that the AEOs must visit 5 villages in a week.
He also called upon the officers at all levels to sincerely implement all centrally sponsored schemes.
Also speaking on the occasion, commissioner and secretary for school education Imkonglemba Ao said by now the state should have 5-6 directorates where the prospects would have increased- Directorate of Secretary education, elementary education, adult education & distance learning, vocational education, directorate of languages and directorate of training respectively.
He also stressed on the need to come together and bring systematic change in the field of education in the state.
