Maligaon, December 15 (MExN): The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned a Final Location Survey for the construction of a new 14-kilometre railway line connecting Jirania and Bodhjung Nagar in West Tripura district.
The survey, estimated to cost Rs. 42 lakh, will involve a detailed examination of geographical features, proposed bridges, soil conditions, and other engineering aspects for the project.
Bodhjung Nagar is a key industrial and commercial hub in Tripura, developed for resource-based industries such as rubber, bamboo, and food processing.
Officials stated that the proposed rail corridor is intended to provide vital connectivity for transporting industrial produce, benefiting traders and the people of Tripura. It is also expected to enhance railway connectivity, smoothen train operations, and strengthen local supply chains.
The Ministry noted that the project marks a significant step towards strengthening railway infrastructure and boosting industrial activities in the state. The survey is likely to promote further industrial development in nearby districts, giving a lift to the local economy.
Upon completion, a comprehensive report based on the survey findings will be submitted to the Ministry of Railways for further consideration and approval.
