IIM Ranchi Director launches Symphony 2011- Annual Magazine of IIM Shillong

Shillong, November 10 (MExN):
It was a moment of great pleasure as the third edition of ‘Symphony’, the annual magazine of IIM Shillong was released on the inaugural day of SusCon. The magazine was released by Dr. M.J. Xavier, the Director of IIM Ranchi and Shri Hasit Joshipuria (VP, South Asia and Managing Director India, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceutical Ltd). IIM Shillong, already in its fourth year of operation, has been championing the cause of sustainability; be it through its academic curriculum or the gamut of initiatives undertaken for the development of the north eastern region. The magazine is the collective effort of the student community of IIM Shillong towards addressing the pressing issues of business, and reflects the passion and zeal with which budding managers wish to use their learning and experiences towards making a difference. It gives a detail of the lives and the interests and the vibrant community of IIM Shillong. The theme chosen for this year’s magazine is ‘Inclusive Growth’ which has been explored in the purview of the Indian Rural market, the SMEs, social implication of land acquisition, growth in bamboo use and the woes of aging nations. Keeping in mind the theme of the magazine, it was perhaps appropriate for the magazine to be released during Suscon, the annual sustainability conference spearheaded by IIM Shillong. The magazine brings a melange of articles contributed by the students of IIM S. The articles span across various domains and functions to provide a holistic perspective on current world issues. It also covers the interviews with Mr. Shouvick Mukherjee (VP and CEO, Yahoo! India R&D) and Mr. Vijay Mahajan (Head of Basix Microfinance & President of Microfinance Institutions Network). It is hoped that this edition of symphony will garner the same amount of appreciation and recognition from budding managers and leaders of this country as the previous two editions.
