Training on Soft Skills for Health Staff held

Dimapur, November 12 (MExN):
Training on Soft Skills for Health Staff was conducted on October 28 and 29 for First and Second Batches of Health Staff comprise of RNTCP, NRHM, ICTC, ANMs and ASHAs at DTO Office, Tuensang organized by the Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) one of the world’s largest NGOs in Health Sector in collaboration with the Development Association of India, Dimapur and RNTCP under GFATM-R-9, Project “Axshya”.
GFR-9, Secunderabad CHAI, Project “Axshya” DCO, Mokokchung and Tuensang, Kyupise Sangtam, in a press release informed the purpose of the training was to build the capacity of the district level health workers on RNTCP and Interpersonal Skills, Effective Communication Skills, Team building and counseling Skills. To help them manage and implement activities related to TB care and support in an efficient manner.
Dr. Yanbo Kithan from RNTCP, DTO Tuensang and Yangdipi Sangtam, Master Trainer on ToT for Soft Skills were the resource persons for the day two training. The training started off with the basic introduction of Tuberculosis and DOTS Strategy, its treatment to cure path way. The staffs were given training on Soft skills with the clear understanding on how to communicate with the patients by using perfect and effective Interpersonal Skills and effective communication. They were also taught on how to use soft language by means of verbal and non-verbal communication.  During the session, the participants were divided into four groups and make them prepare the role play and present it to the other participants on delivering their best services to the patients at their work place. They were also taught on Anger management, Conflict resolution, Time management and Communication Skills with counseling skills.
The entire training was facilitated and supplemented by Kyupise Sangtam, DCO CHAI, Secunderabad. More than 50 Health Staff were trained for the Effective Communication Skills under the Project Axshya and 50 more health staff will be giving such training in the future.

Sanitation programme conducted

Wokha, November 12 (DIPR): The Kyong Student’s Union in collaboration with PHED, Wokha organized a sanitation programme on November 11 at Police Point Wokha attended by thousands of students from different schools. Deputy Commissioner Wokha graced the function as the special guest.
Addressing the students the Deputy Commissioner said, students have been learning so much about the ill effects of unclean environment and its effect on health and felt that they should be the first person to be aware about the importance of cleanliness. He urged them to maintain cleanliness starting from school, home, surrounding, town and villages. He also added everybody should try to develop the sense of cleanliness and civic sense to ensure good health.
Speaking on the significance of sanitation EE, PHED, Wokha Er.Vihuto Sema, said, to achieve the National Goal for Total eradication of the practice of Open Defecation in India by 2012 the State government in collaboration with the Department of PHE involving the Students and Tribal Women bodies have been organizing such programmes to sensitize the people, where he called for support from every section of the society for the success of this programme.
Sanitation and Hygienic Consultant Er. David Sumi also delivered a short speech. The function was chaired by General Secretary, KSU Amos Odyuo while vote of thanks was proposed by Games & Sports Secretary, Phyobemo Kikon.          

Medical camp at Wabagai

Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): A team of medical officers and paramedical staff of 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organized a medical camp at Wabagai of district Thoubal on November 11. More than 150 patients from Wabagai and surrounding areas were diagnosed and provided medicines. A press note issued by the AR stated that an interactive session was also organised with the villagers and they were educated about various diseases including AIDS, Dental problems, malaria and precautionary measures to overcome such disease in future.
