GNLA millitants and arm dealers arrested

Three Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants and two arm dealers were arrested in the past 24 hours from Shillong. Acting based on receiving  a tip off that one GNLA aide Jackiush A Sangma was in Shillong to make an arms deal with some persons, a police team apprehended Jackiush A Sangma and two others namely Bappun A Sangma and Harding M Marak while they were in Jackiush’s Maruti Van ( Registration No ML08 6096) at Polo Ground. From the possession of Jackiush A Sangma an amount of Rs 11, 49,500 was recovered and seized.
According to the police Jackiush A Sangma revealed that he is an aide of Sohan D Shira, commander in chief of GNLA and was sent by him for procuring arms and ammunition from one Pungam Hanghal @ Angam of Dimapur who had come to Shillong for the deal.

Stock position of fuel improved in Manipur

Open sale of petrol products was resumed Thursday across Manipur with the stock position of fuel is said to have improved, first time in a state which has been through over hundred days of economic blockade on the highways.
 The decision came after a state Cabinet meeting yesterday evening whereby open sale of fuel was resumed without limitation today. However, people with jerrycanes were not allowed to fill fuel as decided by the government.
 Many petrol pumps in the Imphal were dotted with cars and two wheelers buying fuel from early morning showing a respite from queues which could be seen over the last few months. But, some pumps could be seen queues stretching about 400-500 metres.
 After the Cabinet meeting yesterday, Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government spokesperson, N. Biren Singh told media persons that fuel was being procured twice a week and petrol and diesel stocks would last for 14 days and six days respectively. 

Jesus Gospel Ministry NEI appeals to UNC

Jesus Gospel Ministry, NEI on Thursday earnestly appealed to United Naga Council (UNC) to reconsider its stand and relax the ongoing economic blockade being imposed along national highways leading to the state in the interest of the poor people and Christian communities as the time for Christmas celebrations is approaching.  Showing regrets over the "grief of the poor people" in the state who have been directly hit by the agitation, Jesus Gospel Ministry, NEI said people of Manipur are really feeling tired now and added that more and more troubles are being faced by the poor due to the impact of the indefinite economic blockade.  It also appealed to the government of Manipur to take seriously the demand of UNC and further urge upon all the civil organizations and sections to stand up and work together to bring peace and harmony in the state. 

3rd national Agro Protech expo held at Kolkata

Dimapur, November 24 (MExN):
The department of Agriculture, Nagaland, an associate partner with the Indian Chamber of Commerce, supported by the government of West Bengal organized the 3rd National Agro Protech expo 2011 from November 3 to 5. The expo team was led by L. Mongsanger SDO (4th mile) Dimapur. Altogether eleven progressive local entrepreneurs participated. The expo was a huge success with all the exhibits in the Nagaland stall sold out by the 2nd day. The local entrepreneurs also benefitted by discovering many marketing linkages form other stated for outsourcing their indigenous products. The entrepreneurs also participated in the buyers-sellers meet from all over India.
