
Training on teens’ sexual health
Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): A three-day training of trainers on Adolescent Education Programme (AEP) is to be held May 25-27, 2011 at NCTE, Kohima. Nagaland State AIDS Control Society, Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) and Nagaland College of Teachers Education (NCTE) are organizing the event. The main objective of the program is to enhance knowledge level of adolescents to encourage informed decisions with regard to adolescent reproductive and sexual health, a note from the organizers stated. It is also to strengthen life-skills for translation of knowledge into responsible actions, enabling young people to protect themselves from and to cope with risky situations they encounter in their lives, the note said. 40 master trainers will in turn train 800 teachers in their respective districts and area.
3 Dimapur-III AC poll from May 25
Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): As per the directive from the AICC, New Delhi and DRO Dimapur, the Assembly Constituency Congress Committee has announced the election schedule for the election to the post of Pradesh Congress Committee Member from 3 Dimapur-III Assembly Constituency. A press note issued by Vinisienuo, assistant returning officer, 3 Dimapur-III informed that the election is scheduled for May 25, 2011 at the office of 3 Dimapur-III A/C Hollohon Colony, Dimapur. Issue of nomination paper will commence from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. Submission of nomination paper from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, scrutiny of nomination paper from 10:00 am to 11;00 am, Noon withdrawal of nomination paper from 11:00 am to 12:00 am, PM voting/polling/election hour from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm, and declaration of result from 1:00 pm. The note also requested to all the delegates under 3 Dimapur-III Assembly Constituency to come and participate accordingly.
NSCN/GPRN condemns
Dimapur, May 23 (MExN):responding to the news item published under the caption “ Two held for extortion” on in local dailies on May 22 and 23, the Ao Region of the NSCN/GPRN condemned such anti social activities committed by impersonating the name of the NSCN in the Ao region. The Ao Region of the NSCN/GPRN shall left no stone unturned to unearth the evil designs and deal appropriately which disturbed the peaceful social environment of the region and tarnished the good image of the NSCN/GPRN, stated the CAO of Ao Region, NSCN/GPRN in a rejoinder.

Tsiesema students popularize arboriculture
Kohima, May 23 (MExN): In order to popularize the arboriculture in the state, the Tsiesema Village Students’ Union with the support of the youth organization has conducted a massive tree plantation at the newly constructed road from Peducha NH-39 to Tsiesema NH-2 on May 21 last.
The Union appealed to all the concern to cooperate in protecting the newly planted trees.
Meanwhile, the Union appreciated the government for bringing developmental activities in the state, particularly giving more emphasis to this road as this road may serves as the ultimate connection to the state capital. The Union stated that many travelers are using this road without passing through the state capital thereby reduces traffic volume. The Union also acknowledged the Executive Engineer and technical staff of Chiephobozou construction division for their dedication and valuable advices “as this kind of arboriculture not only beautify the road but provides safety and maintain stability of the soil.” This was stated in a release issued by TSU president Savilie Yhor and TVYO president Khrielievi-o Yhor.

RPOK condemns May 19 incident
Kohima, May 23 (MExN): The Razeba Public Organization, Kohima has vehemently condemned the incident that took place on May 19 wherein the 16th Assam Rifles had raided the private residence of K.K. Angami at Chedema village and arresting of two innocent civilians Vephrekhotuo and Ngopi Pohena.
The organization stated that Ngopi Pohena, S/o late Akha Pohena is from Zhavame village under Phek district and is presently during doing his 3rd year B.Th from Miracle Theological College, Dimapur and “even on showing his College ID card and theological books which he was carrying for studies and preaching, the Assam Rifle took them to their custody and lodged them in Kohima district jail and was release on bail only on Friday evening i.e 20th May.”
“This uncivilized and unlawful act is repeatedly committed by the Army to the innocent public of the Nagas and we appeal to the higher authority of Army personnel to restrained their jawans such that it doesn’t repeat the same mistake of harassing the innocent public,” the Organisation president Khekhwengulo Lea and general secretary Nikhi Pohena said in a release and further appealed all right thinking citizens to condemn such raid “during this hour where ceasefire is going on is positive direction and Nagas are praying for peaceful solution.”
