6th Nagaland Poetry Competition 2011

Dimapur, October 14 (MExN):
The 6th Nagaland Poetry Competition 2011 will be held on theme ‘The Girl Child.’ The competition is conducted under three categories. Category A Class III - IX, Category B Class X to Graduation and Category C Post graduation and above general category. Poetries in English will be entertained only. The last date for submission of entries is November 20, 2011. All entries may be submitted to Noel Manuel, coordinator, United Tribal Society at Post Box 509, Dimapur, informed a press note

Dimapur DEO on DISE

Dimapur, October 14 (MExN):
In reference to the pervious press release “dated 8th Oct’2011” issued by Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Smti. N. Hushili Sema (IAS). All Private Schools including Navodaya & Kendriya Vidyalaya, CBSE & ICSE are reminded to collect and submit the District Information System for Education (DISE) formats on or before 18th Oct’2011 without fail which is mandatory throughout the country yearly, informed District Education Officer Kitoli  Naje.

Dmr Govt College principal informs

Dimapur, October 14 (MExN):
The principal of Dimapur Government College Dr Norbert has informed that the students of Dimapur Government College who are having backlog subject/paper or repeater are asked to fill up the Nagaland University Forms for NU Examination 2012 from October 17 to 31 during office hours. After the given stipulated time no forms will be entertained, informed the principal in a press note.

UNDSP general session on Oct 15

Dimapur, October 14 (MExN):
The United Naga Demographic Socialist Party, Nagaland has informed that its 14th general Session of the UNDSP will held at the Central Office near Agabe School. Chumukedima. The state office bearers, district office bearers and party workers are informed to attend the meeting on October 15 without fail.
 
DEO Mon informs

Mon, October 14 (DIPR):
The District Election Office Mon has informed all the electors of the district that the Designated Photography Location (DPL) is set up at the office of the Assistant Election Office Mon, for capturing the image of those electors whose image could not capture during the Phase I & Phase II of the photography Campaign 2011. All the left out genuine electors are hereby requested to report to the above mentioned office during office hours with documents for proof of the identity and necessary action. The Designated Photography Location (DPL) for capturing the image shall be in operation w.e.f October 1 t0 30.

Medical camp for school students 
 
Kohima, October 14 (MExN): The District Mission Authority, SSA Kohima in collaboration with Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) organizes Medical assessment camp for children with special needs (CWSN) in the age group of 6-14 years to assess the nature and level of disabilities so as to provide Aids and Appliances to the needs children in order to assist and support them in their studies to give equal opportunity for inclusive Education as it is a fundamental right for every child to get free and compulsory education which has become not only an obligation but mandatory as per the right of children to free and compulsory education under RTE Act 2009.
Thereby it is informed that children with special needs (CWSN) falling under certain disabilities like visual impaired (VI), hearing impaired (HI), mental Retardation (MR) and Loco-Motor impaired (LMI) be brought to the medical assessment camp.
However, it also informed, those CWSN who have already attended and assessed in the previous years of medical assessment camp jointly conducted by NKAH and DMA, SSA Kohima need not come again as they are already assessed.
The camp will be held under various days and locations, 17 October, 10 am-1. pm, venue at NHAK for category VI,HI,MR,LMI of schools under all schools under Tseminyu and Chiephobozou, on 18 October at NHAK, 10am-1 pm for HI,MR,LMI patients of schools under L.Khel Kohima, Viswema and Sechu Zubza and on 21st October, place at NHAK, 10am-01 pm for VI patients of schools under L.Khel Kohima, Viswema and Sechu Zubza.
 
Training on soil & water conservation by UNDP Mkg  
 
Dimapur, October 14 (MExN): As part of its dedicated project on “Sustainable Land and Ecosystem Management in Shifting Cultivation Areas of Nagaland for Livelihood and Ecological Security, United Nation Development Programme Mokokchung organized a Training and Demonstration on Soil and Water Conservation measures and Cropping system at Kinunger village under Mokokchung district on 11th October 2011 where participants from Kinuenger and Aliba villages attended the daylong session. In her keynote address,  UNDP project officer Kedino Zango stressed on the need to improvise and mould  the existing traditional cultivation practices into a more sustainable and profitable venture by utilizing effectively all the resources available in the field. She said “Improvising traditional practice for economic profitability should also take into account the environmental health to ensure that a sustainable from of agriculture is evolved” stated the press release issued by UNDP, Mokokchung Cell.
The project officer also said that the objective of the training is to create awareness among farmers on the importance of soil and water conservation, its impact on environment and sustainable agriculture. Resource person from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samuel, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy) dwelled on the concept of effective cropping system saying that every crop with its unique characteristic can be adjusted in different pattern for best complementary result. Economic aspect on the adoption of this improved system were imparted by the resource person where he also focused on the present and local practices in jhum system and management of fallow land with the adoption of different type of cropping system.
Ruokuosietuo, Assistant Research Officer from Soil and Water conservation department, Zubza Training Centre, imparted training and practical demonstration on the field on the different water and soil conservation measures and practices that can be adopted easily by the farmers. Later, Interaction session was held whereby all the farmer participants actively took part showing keen interest on the practices that can be applied by them in their respective field. Similar training was held on 12th October 2011 at Akhoya village. 
 
Measles campaign to cover 14807 children in Kiphire
 
Dimapur, October 14 (MExN): Kiphire district started the measles catch up-2 immunization campaign on October 10. Having a population of 14807 children between 9 months to 10 years age group, it is expected to cover all the children within a period of minimum three weeks. In the first phase, all the schools will be covered, informed a press note issued by Pezanguno Celine Secü, Media Officer, CMO office Kiphire.
Kiphire is divided into three blocks i.e. Kiphire-Amahator Block, Seyochung- Sitimi Block and Pungro Block. Block wise coverage and reporting is being done under the leadership of different medical officers. Kiphire District has 111 schools with the mentioned target population and out of which 4623 children have received the vaccination on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd day of the campaign which will continue for the whole week. In the 2nd phase, all the non going children will be immunized from the respective Sub-centres, Primary Health Centre, Community Health Centre and District Hospital. The third phase is aimed at immunising the drop outs of the 1st and 2nd phase.
Dr. Kibang, District immunization Officer Kiphire urges the parents to get their children immunised at the earliest so as to save their children from this dreaded disease. The programme is going successfully with good co-operation from the teachers, students, Anganwadi workers and ASHA’s of the District. 
 
Chavara Home welcomes Dmr DC 

Dimapur, October 14 (MExN):
The Chavara Home Community Care Centre extended a warm welcome to Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur on October 12. The welcome function was organized by the inmates of Chavara Home. The Director Sr. Agie CMC welcomed the DC, Hushili Sema and invitees included the chairlady of Naharbari village and DMC advisor Tokheli Kikon, various community leaders of Naharbari, GB’s and the past associates of Chavara Home.
A press note issued by Sr. Agie stated that the chief guest appreciated the good service of Chavara home sisters and staff saying that service to humanity is service to God. She also expressed her support and concern to the center and promised her continuous support in the coming days.
The chairlady of Naharbari also welcomed DC on behalf of all people of Naharbari and promised all her support to the DC for the smooth functioning of the developmental activities in the area. Resource person Medical officer to RNTCP Dr Panger explained about the co-infection of T.B and HIV to the participants. 52 PLHIV s participated in the programme.
