Without a word of goodbye, perhaps the year 2006 will silently slip walk away, making a stop and closing the door of the year that was. Time has already warned us of this and it will pass even without green signals for us because it has to. Memories can only be golden now as we tuck them in a safe place and advance further to greet another hopeful year.
Loud happenings have all turned silent, happy moments are remembrance and painful days are things of the past. There will be a new beginning of bright hours and promising days. But should we look back, what do you expect to find? Would you be glad that the year has come to a close or would you cry because you have to leave so much behind?
I guess all of us are filled with many thoughts of the year that is almost slipping of and recollection of the past 12 months that we dwelt in-sometimes treading the days that seem to pass too slowly or too fast, yet all of the days had equally distributed time. We all lived at our own pace, quite enjoying some blissful moments or brooding over some ugly outcomes. There is a lot to remember and a lot best left forgotten. Perfection is a far cry if you ever wished you had a perfect year, but that never meant you stop striving for it. You stumble but still try and fill a year with contents of happiness.
If you look back you may not find successes in a row or happiness strewn all along and just as you wouldn’t find smiles and laughter in a 100% package. If it were so, where would you hide all the tears, disappointments, troubles and hard moments?
Thinking of 2006 may not give you a feeling of perfect contentment but it sure is good to remember what the year has been. It’s good to analyse and see which times you have gone wrong and how much you have learnt. It’s good to reminiscence the bygone days and pick the good that is in them. Along the way you can still apply some good doings and light up some days. They will be old when the New Year dawns but it doesn’t mean everything that’s old should be discarded for somewhere somehow, it will be of use.
It’s now time to let the year pass and welcome days that will belong to another year. Of course we should leave all its ugly memories with 2006, but without forgetting to learn from it. The truth is whether our days have been blissful hours or painful moments, they all should rest with the year (though we can still allow the nice thoughts of the year to follow us through). But for now, we got to give a little thought about what 2006 meant for us, we got to choose all that have gladden our spirits and gave us happiness, we got to think and smile of the days that have enlightened us in ways more than one. Only then, we march onwards, renewing our minds and thoughts. We step in with new hopes and aspirations. We leave behind sorrows and come in with new dreams to match the New Year.
The pages of 2006 are almost a closed chapter and it will stop when the clock strikes. Perhaps we should remember to look back but not get lost for we have a whole package of a brand new 365 days awaiting us. Should we forget to leave in the present, its memories will be an empty past tomorrow. Reminiscence but do not forget to greet what is new.
