Report totally misleading: Naga Hoho Gen Secy

DIMAPUR, FEB 13 (MExN): Replying to the news item which had quoted Neingulo Krome as saying, “Konyaks feel totally marginalized in the overt political arena by the Ao tribe and in ‘underground’ politics, by the Tangkhuls,” the Naga Hoho general secretary today vehemently denied having uttered such a sentence. The article was carried in the February 13 issue of this newspaper and which earlier appeared in Mathrubhumi, a National Daily in Malayalam.

“Therefore, I wish to clarify that I have not even been misquoted of saying something close to that, but have at no point of time said anything like that, for which the writer himself (has) concocted those words to add some sort of authenticity to his article that itself is not worth contesting,” Krome said in a rejoinder.

Terming the entire article as an insult to the Naga people’s struggle for freedom and peace, he clarified that it was up to the people to judge if he, in the capacity of being the General Secretary of the Naga Hoho, or even within his individual capacity would “alienate the Naga family on tribal lines or any sort of bad-bloods.”

“And in all fairness, as the Naga people are going through a very sensitive and explosive situation, I in all earnestness, requests our newspapers to display more responsibilities in entertaining news and articles that may cause irreparable damage not only to individuals and groups, but to the collective well being of the Naga society,” he advised.
