The ban imposed on Hunting by the Peren District Administration; Police & Forest Departments had been at least yielding some positive signs in different pockets of the green district till date. Infact, the timely initiation & intervention headed by the Green Deputy Commissioner none other than Smti. Khrienuo C. Metha, who is also the Chairperson of “SOCIETY FOR PROTECTION OF ECOLOGY & ENVIRONMENT, PEREN DISTRICT” had been a boon for the wild birds & animals as of now.
The impact of banning hunting can be seen by the movement of some wild birds & animals from the foothills of Jalukie to the stretch of Peren/peletkie junction, when one is on the wheels early in the morning or in the evening; And the same is visible from the stretch of New Peren Junction to Tening/nsong road. This free movement of some wild birds & animals in the bumpy state highways are so mesmerizing and thrilling that any animal lover would like to pen down some lines or even capture in their cameras with shoots, if we are to look some 3/5 years back where we rarely have this opportunity to witness.
On the other hand, banning hunting had at least minimized or stops the inflow of happy-go-lucky hunters (shambu’s) in convoys from outside the district like other past years and even some renowned hunters within the district who had hung up their guns for good, realizing the effect on ecology & environment. Last but not the least, implementation of this order would not have been produce this scenarios had it not have been the effort of the Village Councils in the district. Hence, the collective efforts by various agencies in the district should be lauded by one and all, as their effort is for keeping balance ecology around the green district.
Perhaps, to support this movement the “SOCIETY FOR PROTECTION OF ECOLOGY & ENVIRONMENT”, Peren District had also initiated and started to erect wild life preservation Hoardings in all the Administrative HQ’s for Public awareness Campaign under the dynamic leadership of the DC & Chairperson, So as to inculcate a sense of responsibility and spread the message to each and every individual in protecting our vital environment and preserve it for the future generation. The society had enrolled and registered 66 Eco-Clubs in various villages and towns till date in the District and is looking forward to exercise plantation programme within a month or so. The society had also in the recent past initiated a ‘Green Award’ to be presented every year to the best Eco-Clubs, SHG’s and individuals to encourage and promote environmental awareness in the district and had also launched the 1st Energy Conservation programme by providing CFL Bulbs to all the Households at Benreu Tourist Village as a first step to create awareness on energy conservation.
It is hope that the society would receive the same support and co-operation in the coming days from all the departmental heads of the district being a member to it and continue to uphold the Green District Tag.
