Rio on pension payment to retired employees

Kohima | March 28 : Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today told the assembly session that it is not feasible to maintain record of pension payments made to pensioner relating to different period of time.
He was replying this to MLA Tokheho on being a queried about the expected expenditure to be involved for payment of pensioners and other benefits to government retired employees from October 2009 to February 2011.
The Chief Minister, however, said total expenditure on payment of pension and gratuity including commutation value of pension is Rs. 279.06 crore during the year 2009-10.
For the period April, 2010 to March 2011, the estimated expenditure is
Rs. 400.00 crore, Rio said.
On being asked to furnish the names of retired employees who have received pension and other benefits departments- wise till February, Rio said that pension payment orders are issued by the office of the Accountant General, Nagaland and relevant records are maintained by them.
As such, Rio said, the names of retired employees to whom pension payment orders have been issued by the Accountant General during the period from October 2009 to February 2011 shall have to be obtained from the office of the Accountant General.
“We have taken up the matter with the Accountant General for furnishing the requisite information and on receipt of which the same will be placed in the House,” Rio said in written reply.
In another unstarred question, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who also holds the portfolio of food & civil supplies today said the department has received 393,963.00 tonnes of wheat from April 2003 to March 2011.
Replying this to MLA Tokheho, the chief minister furnished the details of the quantity of wheat received by the department from 2003-2011 under different category as follows; APL wheat- 301438 tonnes, BPL wheat- 54231 tonnes, AAY wheat- 27115 tonnes, welfare scheme wheat- 3505.54 tonnes and SC- ST- OBC Hostel scheme wheat- 7673.46 tonnes.
Rio also furnished the district wise allocation, name of stockist/agent etc. in the floor of the House.
