Maligaon, March 4 (MExN): A team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recovered unclaimed cash and valuables worth over Rs 4 lakhs at Guwahati station on March 3.
According to a press release from NFR CPRO Subhanan Chanda, the items were recovered in the parcel siding area after RPF personnel detected 10 poly bag bundles without railway mark. After enquiry was made in the parcel office about the polybags, the bags were brought to the RPF post and opened after getting necessary approval.
Later the inventory was listed and it was found that the bags contained Rs 4,84,000 in currency notes, Rs 4,900 in coins, 31 pairs of gold bangles, 5.10 kg silver along with other items, it said. After completion of the inventory record, all the items were segregated and sealed in the presence of witnesses, and kept in the safe custody of RPF post for further action as per norms, the release stated.
