Rs. 2.5 mn for WAPO ground announced

Sechü Zubza | November 19 : In what can be termed as a “jubilee gift” to Western Angami Public Organization (WAPO) on the occasion of its 25th anniversary here, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today announced an assistance of Rs. 25 lakhs towards improvement of WAPO Ground at Sechü Zubza. Rio assured this in response to a memorandum submitted by WAPO on the need of hour to improve the WAPO ground.
Also responding to the plea made by elected representative of 8th Western Angami A/C, Kiyanilie Peseyie, speaker NLA on the necessity to construct a new office building of SDO© Sechü Zubza, creation of BDO office at Sechü Zubza and to upgrade Primary Health Centre to that of Community Health Centre, the chief minister said the government will look into the matter in the interest and welfare of the people.
Complimenting WAPO for attaining 25 years, Rio acknowledged their invaluable contribution towards the welfare of the society and hoped that they will continue to work and lead the people towards the right direction.
Also appreciating the leadership quality of the Western Angamis, Rio made special mention of leaders like A.Z. Phizo, T. Sakhrie, JB Jasokie, TN Angami who contributed a lot to Naga society on many fronts.
Stating that the state government was working for unity and reconciliation, he however said the government alone cannot bring unity.
In this, Rio called upon the each and every individual to come forward and put collective effort to bring unity among the Nagas.
Referring to the contributions and helping hand extended by various organizations/departments/ individuals towards re-building of chief minister’s residence after it was burnt into ashes, Rio said the re-building was possible and completed on time through the strength of unity and cooperation. Thanking each and every individual who contributed toward re-building of the CM’s residence, Rio asserted that ‘We can do anything if there is unity among the Nagas.’
On the other hand, Rio said the people have every right to criticize the government but there should be a constructive criticism. He said criticism must be constructive and conducive for the society.
NLA speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie maintained that the ongoing development activities in Nagaland are possible following the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the state and the good leadership in the DAN government.
Peseyie said the public are happy with the government for its endeavour to bring all round-developmnet in the state.
Earlier, the function was chaired by WAPO president Vikehielie Victor. WAPO’s first president Zapuvisie Lhousa and others also spoke on the occasion. Mezoma Youth Organization and Alder Club Khonoma entertained the gathering with cultural items. Vote of thanks was proposed by WAPO vice president Satuo Sechü.
