Phek, March 30 (MExN): Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School (SHHSS) Chizami kicked off its annual Sports and Games on March 30 with the theme “Together Towards Excellence and Service.”
District Education Officer (DEO), Phek, Rentsamo Kikon graced the occasion as Special Guest, accompanied by colleagues Nuvesayi Hoshi and Hitsote.
The inaugural programme commenced with a prayer by Akune Monica, followed by a prayer dance by Classes IV and V, while students of Class VIII presented a welcome song.
Principal Fr Vekupa Rhakho welcomed the Special Guest, his colleagues, board members, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students.
In his address, Kikon emphasised that sports and games play a vital role alongside academics, contributing to holistic development. He noted that sports improve fitness, boost immunity, reduce stress and enhance focus, thereby aiding academic performance.
This year’s opening featured a Theme March instead of the traditional march past, with all four houses, including Class XII students, presenting performances. Depe-u Vero compered the programme, while Vikhru Domeh administered the oath. Class VI students presented a choreography.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Vizokhonu Kulnu and declaration of the meet open by the Special Guest.
