Kohima, May 6 (MExN): The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) on Wednesday announced a temporary suspension of sanitation services and waste collection across its jurisdiction, citing the closure of the designated dumping site by the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC). According to an official notification from the EDTC, the closure has created unavoidable challenges in solid waste disposal, forcing the council to halt collection until alternative arrangements are made. “The matter has already been taken up with the concerned authority for urgent intervention,” the EDTC said, adding that efforts are underway to resolve the issue at the earliest possible time. The council has appealed to all residents, business establishments and institutions under its jurisdiction to bear with the inconvenience caused and extend their understanding and cooperation during this period. Further updates will be communicated as the situation progresses, the EDTC added.
