Tuensang, March 11 (MExN): Sao Chang College, Tuensang celebrated its cultural day under the theme, ‘culture for future’ with Dr Lanurenla, the Principal of Sao Chang College as the speaker on March 11.
In her address, Dr Lanurenla said that traditional values are passed on from one generation to another generation which consist of oral tradition like stories, folk songs, legends and proverbs. “We should make culture as our daily life style and not only celebrate for a day,” she asserted.

“Culture is dynamic and not static. Everything of the past is not passed on to the new generation nor do we practice everything of the past. Culture is ever changing and is also used in various aspects in our lives,” she elaborated.
Dr Lanurenla exhorted the students to develop their own college culture of wellness, unity, inclusivity, hospitality, honesty and hard work. She also stressed on the importance of having sound and healthy environment in the college.
During the programme various cultural items- folk songs, folk dances, showcasing cultural attire, top spinning, yarn spinning, war cry, fire making and bamboo climbing activities were showcased. The first session was compered by Khingasipa, invocation by Khuloi, EU President, welcome address by Sangmaiyenla, cultural secretary, vote of thanks was proposed by Hotoni Yeptho, Assistant Professor and benediction by K Vidla Jing, Assistant Professor.
The cultural event session was compered by Chipensangli and Khunou.
