To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will organize Sardar@150 Unity Marches across Tuensang District on November 18.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Deputy Commissioner’s chamber in Tuensang on Friday, November 7, addressed by Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, District Youth Officer (MY Bharat Tuensang) Kishor Barman, and Extra Assistant Commissioner Zuchanbeni Ngullie.
Speaking at the press conference, DC Rutsa said the initiative forms part of a nationwide celebration recognizing Patel’s legacy as the Iron Man of India and a key architect of national integration. “Through this march, we aim to rekindle the spirit of unity, harmony, and collective strength that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel stood for,” she stated.
Two Unity Marches (Padayatras) will be held simultaneously, one in Tuensang Town and another in Longkhim Sub-Division. The Tuensang rally will begin at 7:00 a.m. from the Clock Tower and conclude at the Town Hall with a culmination programme. In Longkhim, the rally will start at 9:00 a.m. from the Market Area and conclude at the DUDA Hall.
Prior to the main event, a series of Pre-Event Activities highlighting Patel’s life and contributions will be organized in schools and public spaces.
