SASRD conducts 25th annual school week 2019

Participants of the SASRD 25th annual school week. 

 

DIMAPUR, OCOBER 20 (MExN): Nagaland University: School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD) Medziphema campus held its 25th Annual school week from October 16 to 19. The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Chekrovolu Swuro, Arjuna awardee, Asst. Commandant Police Complex Chumukedima as special guest.


The special guest in her speech encouraged the students to stay physically fit by practicing and performing various sports which will automatically lead to a sound mind. She also stated the struggles of her life and the success she has achieved to inspire the students and she asked the students not to lose hope when the situation is not in their favour.


The welcome speech was delivered by Prof. N. Tiameren Ao, I/c Students’ Welfare, NU: SASRD. The program was chaired by Saya D, Executive Member, SU: SASRD, invocated by Pekjum Kaki, President EU: SASRD and vote of thanks was delivered by Samal Jamatia Vice President SU:SASRD.


The students were divided into four houses namely Avengers (Red), Fantastics (Blue), Guardians (Yellow) and Wakanda (Green). Team Guardians (Yellow) was declared the overall champion led by captain Velato Nyekha and vice captain Emilia Shitri, followed by runners up team Avengers (Red) led by captain Pheronthung Kikon & vice captain Vizule Kweho. The Cultural laureate, Literary laureate, Sportsman and Sportswoman awards were bagged by Medoze-U-Medoze, Bansang, Velato Nyekha and Soihiamthai Kaurinta respectively.


Prof. R.C. Nayak Dept. of Soil Conservation, Former Dean, NU: SASRD graced the closing ceremony as special guest on October 19. In his speech, the special guest expressed his desire to become young again and enjoy the school week moments like the students do. He also mentioned that the events like annual school week bring all the students closer irrespective of being a senior or a junior and creates a nice memory that we can remember in our old age. 


The program was chaired by Bansang Executive member, SU:SASRD , invocation by  Tsukjemchiba and vote of thanks was delivered by Kintemjen Imchen Executive member SU:SASRD.
