Kohima, June 28 (MExN): A three-day state-level palliative care training programme for nurses and psychiatrists concluded successfully in Kohima, with participants pledging to strengthen palliative care services at their respective health facilities.

The programme, organised by the National Programme for Palliative Care (NPPC) under the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, was held from June 25 to 27.

The valedictory session was chaired by Dr Imnapokim, Joint Director and State Programme Officer (SPO) for the National Programme for Palliative Care.

The trainers appreciated the active participation and enthusiasm of the trainees and expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme would contribute to improving palliative care services across the state.

Certificates were distributed to the participants at the conclusion of the training.

Technical sessions were conducted by Hanife Macgamwell, Honorary Head and Instructor for ELNEC USA in India; Nileema Sharad Shingade, Senior Nursing Officer, AIIMS New Delhi; Ramswaroop, Senior Nursing Officer, AIIMS Jodhpur; Arvind Sharma, Senior Nursing Officer, AIIMS Jodhpur; and Sudip Rudra Paul, Nursing Officer, Dr B. Borooah Cancer Institute.

The resource persons shared their expertise on pain management, communication skills, psychosocial support and holistic patient care as part of the training programme.
