DIMAPUR, APRIL 19 (MExN): Mairidin Newmai of The Combat Academy Nagaland (TCA Nagaland) and Kaizen MMA registered a convincing win at the Immortal Fighting Championship held at Koramangala Indoor Stadium, Bengaluru, on April 18.
Entering the bantamweight bout with a professional record of four wins and one loss, Newmai faced Tribhuvan Issar, a grappling specialist from Dehradun with a record of three wins, three losses and one draw. Over the course of three rounds, Newmai displayed composure and striking precision to secure a dominant victory via unanimous decision.
Following the bout, in a gesture of respect, Newmai presented his traditional Naga Zeliang shawl to his opponent.
Trained at both TCA Nagaland and Kaizen MMA in Bengaluru, Newmai is currently under contract with Matrix Fight Night, one of India’s premier mixed martial arts promotions. The latest victory adds to his growing profile in the sport.
With the win, Newmai further strengthens his standing in India’s bantamweight division, underlining his position as one of the country’s promising mixed martial artists.
