Training on mushroom cultivation held at ICAR

Participants of the training programme on mushroom cultivation held from February 14-16 at ICAR campus, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema.

 

Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre organized three day training cum demonstration on “Mushroom Cultivation: An additional Source of Farm Income” along with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur under All India Coordinated Research Project on Mushroom during February 14-16 at ICAR Campus, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema. 


The training was coordinated by Dr Rajesha G, Scientist (Plant Pathology) and E Lireni Kikon, SMS (Plant Protection) for the farmers especially women farmers. The training main focus was to improve the farm income by utilizing farm waste for the different mushroom cultivation. During the training, Dr Rajesha created the awareness on scope and importance of mushroom cultivation in terms of nutritional and medicinal quality, ideas on edible and poisonous mushrooms, and cost-economics of mushroom cultivation.


E Lireni Kikon trained on cultivation of organic oyster mushroom, mushroom pest and disease management through demonstration. The recycling of mushroom beds for preparation of vermin compost for enhancing the farm income was also trained by Dr LJ Bordoloi during the training. V Kenny ACTO, KVK Dimapur also demonstrated the processing and value addition of mushrooms. 


Joint Director incharge, Dr LK Baishya distributed the certificates and some critical inputs viz. spawn, water drum and sprayers to the participants to take up mushroom cultivation. Altogether 19 farmers including 17 women from Dimapur district attended the programme.
