Triple murder accused surrenders in Niuland

Dimapur, October 27 (MExN): A 40-year-old man identified as Gufur has surrendered to the Hakhizhe Village Council after allegedly killing three members of his family in the early hours of Monday, according to official sources. The killings occurred around 2 am on October 27 at Hakhizhe village in Niuland district. The victims were identified as Gufur’s brother, Asatul, 35, his 12-year-old daughter, and 6-year-old son. Police said the victims were hacked to death while they were sleeping. The accused surrendered to village authorities around 4 am, about two hours after the killings, and was later handed over to police. Authorities said the motive for the crime remains unknown but added that the accused is believed to be mentally unsound. He hails from Morigaon, Assam, and is currently in police custody. The adult victim and accused were reported to be farm hands.
