Tuensang launches self-defense class for adolescent girls

Tuensang, March 14 (MExN): The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) sponsored self-defense class for adolescent girls was launched at Town Hall, Tuensang on March 14. Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant was the special guest of the launching programme.


The programme was attended by Administrative officers led by DC Tuensang; members of the Tuensang District Taekwondo Association led by President and adolescent girl students from GHSS Tuensang, GHSS Thangjam, GHS Chaba, GHS Hakushang, GMS Station-I and GMS Station-II.


Speaking at the event, the DC talked about how sports are an important element in life and how one can be self dependent through sports.


He encouraged the girl students to take up self-defense class with discipline, commitment so that it will also help in healthy living. He also expressed the country’s top priority emphasis on sports sector and assured full cooperation to those in need of assistance to materialize the self defense class.


Niamkoi, District Coordinator MSK Tuensang highlighted on the core concept of BBBP while president TDTA and Lal Bahadur Ussuk GT Thangjam on behalf of the participating school gave short speeches. Taekwondo art on self defense was demonstrated which was led by Chief Instructor TDTA. Vote of thanks was initiated by Shelly Katiry SDO (C) and Nodal Officer BBBP Tuensang while the programme was conducted by Songmao Women Welfare Officer, DLCW.
