The 37th Games & Sports Meet 2024 of Thipüzu Youth Organization (TYO) got underway today at Thipüzu with Nagaland’s CAWD & Taxes Advisor, Kudecho Khamo as special guest.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Khamo encouraged the youth to dream big for medal podium at international and national level sports. Sport is a serious profession now, the Advisor said. He asserted that the state government is committed to the promotion of sports in the state.
Khamo maintained that the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA), under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, is committed to promoting talented youth in sports by providing them with a platform and training to excel besides hosting Nagaland Olympics, Northeast Olympic Games, and other national sports events.
The Advisor also highlighted the accomplishments of sportspersons from the state such as the first Indian football captain, Dr T Ao, archer Chekrovolu Swuro, and Paralympic medalist Hokato Hotozhe Sema. He urged the youth get inspire from those sports heroes from the state adding that once, a person achieved medal can get huge rewards to be rich with fame and employment.
Khamo pointed out that Thipüzu village has not only been a pioneering village in education and Christianity, but even in farming of horticultural crops- Kiwi and Persimmon. TYO president Vesopra Rose delivered presidential address.
The programme was led by Razucuyi Tetseo while TYO games secretary Acüzo Tetseo administered oath to the participating teams. The meet continue till December 20.
